In 1998 outline planning consent was obtained for a mixed scheme comprising a 4645m2 foodstore, 3066m2 of leisure use and 102 housing units. The scheme also provides for a new link road, providing improved access to an important riverside site. The site adjoins Kingston town centre and consequently detailed negotiations were necessary to resolve traffic, access and car parking issues. The site was sold to Sainsbury's in 1999.
