Coxside was one of the most sought after areas in the UK and is in a prime location on the outskirts of the city centre and near the harbour. Following completion of remediation in late 1997, developers began construction of a showpiece leisure complex.

In June 1999, a Warner Village multiplex cinema was opened alongside a Super Bowl and Old Orleans restaurant. The development was completed in July 2000 with a nightclub, Heroes theme bar and health club. The site has become a real landmark, providing a one-stop leisure destination for a city that previously had limited facilities.
