What We Do

Property Sales / Regeneration

About the team

The Sales team is geographically based, covering three regions in the South, Midlands and North of the UK and is overseen by Regional Managers who work together as part of a National Strategy Team. Sales form vital links with Estates Management and Construction, who are key in helping to make sure that sales are deliverable.

What we do

The fundamental strategy behind the Sales Team is to generate cash for National Grid from the sale of the company's surplus property portfolio whilst minimizing environmental liabilities. The team has to date generated over £1bn in gross sales proceeds from the sales of over 800 properties.

The Sales Team continually appraises the portfolio to prioritise sites for sale in terms of value and risk, whilst considering market conditions at national and local levels. The aim is to add value through obtaining valuable planning permissions and maximising receipts through negotiating overage deals and profit sharing arrangements.

Typically, much of the portfolio has been sold to residential developers, retailers and commercial developers, and even to Premiership Football Clubs. The team has also successfully put together several multi-million pound package sales including the disposal of the former residential portfolio and much of the Company's retail investment portfolio.
